And so...

From Time to Time ends here, and, hey, 800 pages! But, well, as you can see, I couldn't think of anything to do on a milestone this time, and I just didn't do anything special... Or did I?

Well, whatever, I don't have much to say about this page, so I will just do that at the end of this comment... So for now, let's talk about this whole chapter, starting with its origins!

The idea from this chapter, let's say, came at the first time when I was finishing creating the alternate XXIs, just not exactly. You know, I was working on their personalities and all that, then I thought: "Wait... All this and they will just appear in one chapter?". At first, I just wrote down they needed to come back at some point, and that was it. In fact, during Just Like a Butterfly, this same problem was pointed out by some people, and some simply just wanted them to come back, so I just said "Don't worry, they will.".

How and why they would come back, however, was something I took a while to answer. I'm aware you don't know that yet, but don't worry, you will get to understand it pretty soon. Then, I will explain how I came up with all that.

Regardless, when I figured out the how and why, I just needed to figure out what would happen in the chapter. Well, there were two options, make them appear on a chapter where they would come back and things would happen, or make a chapter where they would come back and that's basically it... I usually pick the first choice, but this time I picked the second. Why?

Well, would you look at that, they are 21 different characters. If I made something happen and focused on that, there would be no way for me to focus on them all to show their personalities better easily. Just Like a Butterfly is already an example. It would just be too hard and confusing to work on two important things like that at the same time... So I just decided to make them appear and interact with their counterparts. That way, you would get to know them better and, hopefully, understand better the similarities and differences between their counterparts.

Of course, this chapter didn't show you 100% of all their personalities, that would be just impossible with only at least two pages per pairs. I mean, I have 24 main characters in this comic, and even now reaching 800 pages, having chapters focused on character development and all that, you don't know extremely well all of them. Of course, you know them well (at least I hope so!), and better than the alternate XXIs, but that's bound to happen. So, I just hope that by the end of this chapter you indeed know more about these XXIs.

Also, I really hope this chapter wasn't extremely boring. I know it wasn't very exciting, but there wasn't exactly a way to escape that. I tried my best to make you at least laugh, and I hope it worked.

You probably noticed, but this chapter had some sort of pattern for most of it, simply to help me organizing. It was get a group of characters, have one page for each of them, and then later have a final page with the whole group. I even pointed that out when I broke it for some pages... And focused on a specific character.

Yes, you know I focused on Larry... Well, come to think of it. After Paint Panic, the only time Larry appeared was in Oh No, and he didn't do much. I had to show some of his changes after that chapter, and this current chapter seemed like a good opportunity. So, unlike other characters, he got 5 pages of focus, along with his alternate self, Gabriel, and, honestly, what better person to give you advice other than yourself, from a different point of view? I tried to show how he really is sorry for what he did to Raven and regretted his actions but, obviously, Raven won't forgive him that easily. Truth to be told, I'm not even sure at this point if I will be able to show Raven forgiving Larry, because that would take a while to make sense and the comic will end somewhat soon. I guess only time will tell. So, yeah, I'm hoping here that you get all that.

I also hope I was able to show more things about the XXIs you already know, like I did with Leo, Zan and others. These characters didn't get as much focus as Larry did, but I tried to show you something new about them.

Then, I also focused a bit on Kirby and Anibal, mentioning his relationship with Adriano a bit. I just wanted to show a bit, even though Panee is not with them, Anibal's personality, and hopefully differences when compared to Panee. I thought having Kirby interact with him instead was, at the same time, a natural outcome and something that could be a bit different, and that's why I went for it. Hopefully it worked!

Finally, these last few pages showed Panee... Of course, these letters aren't important! And it won't take much time for you all to figure out what was written on them... Keep alert!

Well, this is all about this chapter. I had lots of fun writing it, so I hope you enjoyed it. Well, what's next? Remember when Kirsy said she had an idea? That's it! It's simple but important... After all, I haven't forgotten about the Keeby problem that was brought up by some at the end of Dual Destinies... Yet again, thanks a lot for reading the comic! I wouldn't have reached 800 pages without you guys.

Still feels to me like they showed up just because, but I guess we'll see.

Congrats on 800 pages~

I hate to be so negative, especially after you just said you really enjoyed writing this chapter, so I'll just say this: while you may have enjoyed this chapter, I feel it was exceedingly unenjoyable to read, perhaps the most out of any other chapter you've written, due to...

its extremely repetitive nature (one old character talks to one new character, repeat 19 more times),
excess of dialogue and characters (it was always hard enough to keep track of the 24 main characters previously, now adding 21 more to this chapter to try and keep track of muddies every little bit of information given, and I can't tell you anything new we learned in this chapter because it was basically an information overload),
constant scene refocusing (since no two characters were focused on for longer than a few pages, it was hard to keep track of things),
very boring visuals (basically every single comic was comprised of two Kirbies standing and talking with very little movement or variety in angle or scene composition, even the old XXI was always on the left and the new XXI on the right),
and a lack of resolution in the primary question of how these characters got here in the first place. (I know this is because you wanted to set-up for this question to be answered later, but in this case I feel this is a detriment here because we get almost nothing to satisfy, leading it to feel as though this segment was completely worthless after combining that with the other problems I've mentioned. There's too many characters to remember and only about two or three full pages of relevant plot information: "the alternate XXIs are now here for an unknown reason, and Panee is going to accept some sort of offer from a letter".)

I normally say that I look forward to where the comic is going, but this chapter has legit made me worried about the future of this comic. The phrase 'unnecessarily complicated' comes to mind, personally.

@Ultizeta:

Before I give a real reply to your comment, I just want to understand better what you believe that is so damn bad about this chapter that makes you worried about the future of the comic. I'm not going to another similar chapter to this one in the future, and I'm not crazy enough to try to suddenly have almost 50 characters as main characters. I'm not sure what you're thinking.

What I'm saying is, maybe this chapter wasn't the best, but unless you explain better, for me you're just not making any sense using this chapter to predict what I will do in the future.

Also, remember you were one of the people who asked for the alternate XXIs to be better shown at some point. At least recognize some positives of what I worked hard for six months?

@Ultizeta: I rather thought it was interesting. I wait for some character's reactions from each other and see what might be good to note.

@Gigi19972010: I replied in a private message instead of a comment so that the comments didn't get cluttered like they usually tend to when we have our debates. (This is also letting anyone else interested know that I didn't just completely ignore Gigi here and never respond)

I read that entire wall of text, but I'm still very interested in what the next chapter will be. The inspiration was a cool idea and it's good to see you using interesting characters more than once. Even if they ARE alternate XXIs, they're still alternate versions which gives them different opinions and personalities. I hope you have fun with the next chapter!

@Ultizeta: Why can't you wait for awnsers like most people do? And why it would be unnecessary complicated? To me it feels simple and complicated enough.

Sometimes you can be extremely critical did you know that?
