Poor Tim...

Anyway, Team Means Win comes to an end! And yes, there is going to be a giant author comment here, because I need to say a lot of stuff.
Let me start with the story behind this chapter. Well, like I've already told you before, this chapter idea is extremely old, if I'm not mistaken I came up with the basic idea right after when I showed Team Plasma in WANA. Since I'd already had two teams, why not introduce the others? But then I decided to create a chapter focused on the teams, introducing the new ones and... That's when the problem came. I only had the extremely basic idea of the plot: all the teams in a chapter. So, I decided to write down the idea and use it later, after all I had already Midnight Madness, A Memorable Morning and Such a New Life to come, so I wouldn't need new chapter ideas that soon.
The chapter stayed much time just as a bland idea. Unlike The Miraculous Treasures and Xiaolin Showdown, I didn't know exactly what to do with the original basic idea, and that's why they ended up happening before, even though I had thought of Team Means Win much before. The same thing happened with Old Friend, Or New Foe?: I found it easier to develop the plot. The same question still remained: how can I develop the plot of Team Means Win?
Well, I don't remember when, why neither how I came up with the idea of including the Pokékirbies in the mix. My guess is that since I wanted Special to appear in 20TK someday (later I'll explain about the creation of Special and Unique, just wait), and since the teams were references to Pokémon, I thought it wouldn't hurt to put her there. And yes, at this time I hadn't thought of Unique yet, but things changed fast. Something I hadn't explained about the teams was why Rick loved the moon so much, and I also wanted to explain you how Matt had lied in The Meeting. These things pointed me to Special, then I remembered the certain counterpart of Espeon, Umbreon, that is related to the moon... And then the explanation of why, how and about what Matt had lied came. Yeah, I already wanted to turn what Matt told the kirbies in The Meeting into a lie, but I hadn't had the idea of what had actually happened. The simple idea of putting Special in the comic turned up as the starting point I wanted to start developing the plot of the chapter. How funny, eh? :P
So, right after I started planning the chapter. At that time, I already wanted Team Means Win to happen soon. However, I was thinking of it with 20 parts, not 30 like it ended up being. Why, you may ask. Well, the thing is that I simply must end a chapter in a multiple of 100 page, unlike with the 50 ones, it's something from me. So, at that time, I had placed four chapters between the 300th comic and the 400th comic: Adding The Venture, Team Means Win, the next chapter and another chapter. The number of pages was, respectively, 30, 20, 30 and 20. Then I guess you know what happened. When I was planning the crossover chapter, which was after I had planned Team Means Win, I realized that it would be impossible to make it happen in only 30 pages. So, I turned it into a 40 pages chapter. But then, what about the other chapters? They would break the hundred! So, I had two choices: make one of the chapters 10 pages smaller or make a chapter 10 pages bigger and throw away one of the 20 pages chapter. The first choice turned out to be impossible; it would turn that chapter into a rushed chapter, which would be really bad. So I choose the second option. So, the crossover didn't need to have 50 pages, and I honestly thought it would make it become too big. I looked at Team Means Win, I read the planning and I realized that it would be a good idea to add 10 pages to it. I didn't add anything new to it, I just split up some of the pages and sometimes made some of the facts happen for a longer period. Nowadays, I find the 20 pages version of it as a rushed chapter. Really, can you think of all these 30 pages happening in only 20 pages? So, I also had to take away a 20 pages chapter, the last one. And to be honest, that was a good thing, that chapter was mostly not planned at all and I wanted to get rid of it, but I didn't have a better idea for a 20 pages chapter to fit there. Honestly, I'm not sure if you are ever going to see it happening, and if you do it's probably going to take a long time. And the next chapter remained there, it needs to happen exactly where it was placed.
Oh, and also, this was the only chapter that actually didn't need to happen after the crossover, as I claimed to Ulti that I needed the crossover to happen at that time because of future chapters which were going to be influenced by it. Of course, there was the dimensional thing that Kirby only believed because he had faced before a situation that dimensions were involved, but I could replace the excuse with something else. But I wanted so bad to make the excuse as that that I told myself that the crossover needed to happen before. Well, I regret nothing...
So, now let me tell you how I came up with the idea of Special and Unique exactly. Special was created first, but not thanks to me, you can thank Ultimate Yoshi for that. In the middle of 2011, he tagged me on a meme on Kirby's Spriters Resort, and he made an Espeon-Kirby sprite to represent me, since I apparently loved Espeon, and I do, it's my favorite Pokémon. Later, he just made the standing sprite for both Espeon and Umbreon kirbies, and later some few more poses for the Umbreon kirby, since Umbreon is his favorite Pokémon. It stayed like that for some months... until I got bored during my vacation and I thought "Hey, why not try to make a sheet for that Espeon kirby?". So I did so, and I liked the results, even to the point of creating an actual character based on them: Special. I only made some sprites and gave the name, because no matter how much I wanted her to appear in 20TK one day (since she was my first non-full-recolor FC), I couldn't think of her appearing in without it being extremely random. So, the sprite sheet stayed there, inactive for long months... Until the beginning of 2012. At that time, I was already part of Abbimays Randomness, and we still used the Xat to chat, unlike today as we use Skype and it's no longer Abbimays Randomness, it's Void Misadventures. Anyway, there, at some point, everyone started using two characters at the same time, both in the name and in the avatar. So, I decided to follow the fad, but... Gigi and...? I started thinking about putting some character from 20TK, but I thought it would be weird, as we used to RP a lot and the context would be strange for the character. Also because I really didn't want to use any of them for whatever reason. So, I thought "Maybe I could use some character which I have created, but I have no plans on using it?", and at that time I remembered about Special. So, it was decided: Gigi and Special. So, it became like that for about one or two weeks, and I even RPed as Special sometimes. People from AMR met Special. So, I think that was the starting point of placing Special in 20TK. I got familiar with her, though her personality changed, as well she got a backstory (not that you know that already >:3). So, like I've already said, I put there in the mix, and so it went like that...
So, now, I'll just make a comment about something that irritated me during this chapter.
You know, to be honest, I expected people to find out Special and Unique as characters out of place. However, I'll now convince you that they aren't, by comparing them and this chapter with Xiaolin and The Miraculous Treasures plus Xiaolin Showdown.
Like I've already told you, those two chapters had many references to the show called "Xiaolin Showdown", which some of you know about and some of you don't, and even Xiaolin himself was a reference. Now tell me, did you complain about it? That I remember, no complains about the references at all. Then I ask you, why do you then complain about Pokémon references? Guys, Special, Unique and the teams are only references, why can't some of you see that? And I'll even go further, both times the references were small, nothing that big. About Xiaolin, I only made the miraculous treasures look like some Shen Gong Wus (for people who don't know about the show, they are mystical objects, each one with its own power), the thing about the elements and Xiaolin's name. During TMW, the teams have names from the Pokémon teams, as well as the leaders, and Special and Unique have physical characteristics from the Pokémon Espeon and Umbreon. Is that something that big? You may say "But their characteristics based on the Pokémon are something big". But they aren't. Because the kirbies have no idea what "Pokémon" are, including Special and Unique themselves! You know, nobody ever called them "Pokékirbies", "Espeon-Kirby and Umbreon-Kirby", anything like that. And, if for whatever reason you didn't know what "Pokémon" were, you'd get the same feeling. You would only find them as "weird". So, what's the big problem with these references? It destroys the logic of the plot? I don't think so.
So, now let's go back to the intentions behind making this chapter. In the beginning of TMW, I told you that stuff about focusing on a group of main characters and stuff. Well, as you can see, and I kind of expected, that didn't really happen like I had told you. I clearly didn't focus only on the three, I focused on the three, the teams, Special and Unique and even Kirby. So, it didn't go as planned? Actually, it did. The only thing which didn't go as planned, and I must admit, is the thing on focusing on the whole group. Honestly, my first intention was to "kill two birds with one stone", by making one chapter which would make three characters more memorable. However, I was already wondering whether the teams and the other kirbies would make it work or not. So, it didn't work. But, still, I made one of them memorable, or at least I tried to, OR at least I developed his personality more: Matt. Yeah, my predictions were right, no matter how much I wanted to be wrong, only Matt could get anything positive about his character in this chapter. You don't see how? Well, remember how the chapter started: Rick took Matt to Unique because of his lie. Matt's lie is the key to the chapter, I like I said before in this comment. More than that, it shows like nothing else one of his characteristics: he is a liar. No matter how much times Natty had said that Matt was a liar, that he lied about winning and stuff, I had never showed clearly Matt's liar side. Now, his lie caused this whole mess: he lied, Unique found about it later, Unique told Rick to bring Matt, Unique's return made Special appear, Ghetsis realized that Rick had no troops in the forest side of Green Greens so he decided to start his attack by there (well, I didn't have the time to make it clear in the comic, but I kind of said it indirectly: Unique didn't want anyone to be around when he was going to torture Matt, so he told Rick to evacuate the area; with no Capsule Js protecting the area anymore, Ghetsis decided to attack), Maxie, also knowing this, decided to attack as well, Archie, following Maxie, decided to attack as well as well, Kirby went there because he saw Natty and Tim going there, and so on... Then, in the end, I explain what Matt's lie was about exactly, because if I didn't, when would I? Also, that was the climax of Matt's focus: his lie, why he lied, etc. See, Matt was the main focus, directly and indirectly. And well, what about Natty and Tim? They are going to get the spotlight on other chapters, just wait.
Still, I want to know what you guys thought of this chapter. Because, for me, this chapter felt weird... Sometimes, I thought you guys were loving it, sometimes I thought you were ok with it, sometimes I thought you guys were hating it... So, at this rate, I dunno anymore... So, tell me, what did you think of this chapter? Be honest, as long as you have good reasoning. I really need to know that because this was the first chapter were almost no main characters appeared, and I'm planning on making much more of the kind. As for me, I liked to work on it. I'm just not sure of what you thought of it, like I said before. Mainly because during the whole last half of this chapter, the number of comments went down A LOT. I know sometimes it happens, but this time it lasted for a longer period, and I just can't understand what happened to you guys not to comment. So, please, tell me now, this is making me worried, A LOT.
...And yes, as you can see, Unique forgot that he was going to punish Matt... Luckily for Matt! :P
And so, what now? Well, yes, Daisy's news is the next chapter. And, again, a chapter which its idea is old, and focusing on all main characters, unlike this one. Well, I hope you'll like it! Oh, and June is going to be tough... I'll probably continue with this not-so-active activity on SJ. Anyway, again, thank you for reading the comic so far, and see you on Saturday!

Hopefully we'll be able to see Unique and Special again. It's obvious that Gigi is hiding their backstory from us so we're in suspense. I expected no more.

@Gigi19972010: I think it's because of all the government--I mean, plot conspiracies you've placed in this comic. It's getting too complicated and convoluted to follow, at least imo. If you would probably shed some light on some of the more...enigmatic things about this comic, I'm sure people will start commenting again...*Here's hoping this Jedi mind trick works...*

@Trevor the Hedgehog:

You mean I should stop covering too many plot points? But, you know, I haven't been doing this recently... Only the normal dose I always do.

Well, I would read that long author comment, but my IQ is probably around the same as my age, since it's practically Summer vacation for me.

Guess we can call me a giant comment reader.

The thing I liked the most about it was when Unique shouted Special's name. It struck the right balance between "breaking the fourth wall" and "there was a perfectly logical reason". Great chapter. I think just including the team names(And not Special and Unique) would have been enough reference for me.

(Special and Unique I mean) don't appear during the final battle, I'll explode!
